FA Cup Replays Confirmed for Television Coverage
BBC and ITV to Broadcast Historic Clashes
FA Announces Stipulated Replays for Drawn Matches
The Football Association (FA) has announced that two replays in the 2022-23 Emirates FA Cup fourth round will be broadcast live on television. The games will be played after the original matches ended in thrilling draws.
According to the FA's regulations, replays are mandatory for all games that end in draws up to and including the fourth round. In the fourth round, a replay is scheduled if a match ends in a draw after extra time. After the fourth round, the FA Cup reverts to one-off matches.
The two confirmed replays are Chesterfield vs. Wrexham and Ipswich Town vs. Burnley. Chesterfield, a National League side, held Wrexham to a 3-3 draw, while Ipswich Town and Burnley played out a 0-0 stalemate. These replays will provide a second chance for the teams to secure a place in the fifth round.
BBC and ITV will share broadcasting rights for the replays. The Chesterfield vs. Wrexham match will be broadcast on BBC One at 7:15 pm on Tuesday, January 17, while the Ipswich Town vs. Burnley clash will air on ITV1 at 8 pm on Wednesday, January 18.
Fans can also live stream the replays through the BBC iPlayer and ITV Hub platforms. Additionally, BBC Radio 5 Live will provide live commentary on both games.
