Bolton Wanderers Win League One Play-off Final

Bolton Wanderers have won the League One play-off final, beating Barnsley 5-4 on aggregate after a 3-1 victory at Wembley Stadium.

Josh Murphy scored the winning goal in the 85th minute, with the ball taking a deflection off Ricardo Santos and into the net.

Bolton had taken the lead through Dapo Afolayan in the first half, but Barnsley equalised through Devante Cole shortly after the break. However, goals from Eoin Doyle and Murphy in the second half secured victory for Bolton.

The victory means that Bolton will return to the Championship after one season in League One. It is their first promotion since 2017, when they won the League Two title.

Bolton will now be hoping to continue their progress under manager Ian Evatt, who has led them to promotion in his first season in charge.
