Austria beats Poland 3-1 in Euro 2022
Austria rebounded from their opening loss against France with a 3-1 victory over Poland in their second Group D match of Euro 2022.
The win puts Austria in a strong position to qualify for the knockout stage, while Poland's chances of advancing are now in jeopardy.
Austria took the lead in the 18th minute when Christoph Baumgartner scored from a tight angle. Poland equalized in the 44th minute through Robert Lewandowski's penalty, but Austria regained the lead just before halftime when Marko Arnautovic scored a stunning goal from outside the box.
Austria extended their lead in the 54th minute when Louis Schaub scored from close range. Poland had a few chances to get back into the game, but they were unable to find the back of the net.
The win was a big boost for Austria, who are now level on points with France at the top of Group D. Poland, meanwhile, are now bottom of the group and will need to win their final match against France to have any chance of advancing.
