Anna Delvey Accepts 'Apology' After 'The View' Reads Statement from Lawyer on Debts
Settlement Announced in Battery Case
Anna Delvey, the subject of the hit Netflix series "Inventing Anna," has accepted an "apology" from "The View" after the show read a statement from her lawyer regarding her outstanding debts. The move comes after Delvey filed a defamation lawsuit against "The View" for falsely accusing her of owing unpaid debts.
Statement from Anna Delvey’s Lawyer
In a statement read aloud on the show, Delvey's lawyer claimed that all of her debts had been settled, with the exception of an outstanding $250,000 owed to the hotel 11 Howard. The statement further alleged that "The View" had "intentionally and recklessly" spread false information about Delvey's financial situation, causing her reputational and financial harm.
Agreement Reached
Following the reading of the statement, "The View" hosts apologized for the error and stated that they had been unaware of the settlement agreement. They clarified that they had relied on information from a previous interview with Rachel Deloache Williams, a former friend of Delvey's who claimed she was owed money.
Ongoing Lawsuit
Despite the apology, Delvey's defamation lawsuit against "The View" remains ongoing. The lawsuit alleges that the show's false accusations have caused her emotional distress, damaged her reputation, and hindered her ability to secure gainful employment. The outcome of the lawsuit remains to be seen.
