WVU volleyball wins Big 12 championship
The West Virginia University volleyball team defeated the Texas Longhorns 3-1 to win the Big 12 Championship on Saturday, November 26, 2022, in Kansas City, Missouri.
The Mountaineers, who were the No. 2 seed in the tournament, won the first two sets of the match 25-23 and 25-21, before dropping the third set 25-22.
In the fourth set, WVU rallied from a 21-18 deficit to win 26-24 and clinch the championship.
WVU football team loses to Kansas State in Big 12 Championship Game
The West Virginia University football team lost to the Kansas State Wildcats 34-28 in the Big 12 Championship Game on Saturday, December 3, 2022, in Arlington, Texas.
The Mountaineers, who were the No. 2 seed in the tournament, took an early 14-0 lead, but the Wildcats rallied to take a 24-14 lead at halftime.
WVU cut the deficit to 24-21 in the third quarter, but Kansas State scored 10 unanswered points to take a 34-21 lead in the fourth quarter.
WVU men's basketball team defeats Kansas in Morgantown
The West Virginia University men's basketball team defeated the Kansas Jayhawks 74-65 on Wednesday, December 7, 2022, in Morgantown, West Virginia.
The Mountaineers, who were unranked at the time, led by as many as 19 points in the second half.
Kansas, which was ranked No. 2 in the country at the time, cut the deficit to four points with 2:30 remaining, but WVU made its free throws down the stretch to secure the victory.
